Рецензия на книгу Хезер Мюррей «Asylum Ways of Seeing: Psychiatric Patients, American Thought and Culture»

Аннотация

Автор рассматривает монографию Хезер Мюррей «Asylum Ways of Seeing: Psychiatric Patients, American Thought and Culture» (2022), посвященную изменению культурного восприятия опыта пациентов психиатрических лечебниц в США на протяжении XX века, включая семантическую двойственность «asylum» и амбивалентность психиатрии как институции. В рецензии показано, как сдвиги в эмоциональной культуре связаны с переоценкой пациентского поведения (от «желанного покоя» к фигуре «автомата»), описываются методологические опоры исследования и корпус источников (включая «терапевтический архив» и массовую культуру), а также обсуждаются ограничения, связанные с фрагментарностью/анонимизацией архивных данных и аналитической нагрузкой категории «сообщество пациентов». В заключение фиксируется вклад книги в историю американской психиатрии и историю эмоций при сохранении указанных методологических оговорок.
